Merc 115 has Ghost in Trim Pump Motor.......?
I was working in my shop one day, next to my boat, When all of a sudden the Trim Pump Motor started running raising the motor. I could not get it to stop so I disconnected the battery leads. It has done this twice in the last month or so. Has anyone ever experienced this before. (Water in the switches??)
I would suggest that this problem is in the primary side of the wiring (switch and wire that controls the solenoid). Rather than trying to diagnose an intermittent electrical problem, run a new wire from the switch to the solenoid. If this "ghost" is making the trim move in both directions, replace both wires to both solenoids. If the problem continues, replace the trim switch. Hope this works for you.
