I have a boat with a cracked block 460 ford motor 83 baja boat.does it have to be a marine motor?
Will any 460 block do? If i get the block fixed will it fail?
a marine motor is better on gas. you can go on ebay and get a long block 460 with a five year warranty. for around $1800. i believe you can put a car or truck motor in, but you have to do some changes to it. the problem with the 460 motors you have to get bigger rods and springs cause of the tork. every machanic i have talked to said the 460 is junk compaired to the chevy motor. i have a 460 in my glastron jet boat...but i am replacing it with another, but my springs and rods will be bigger this time, and with the 5 year warranty, i think its the best warranty out there. if i blow this motor...im going to a chevy motor, my friends have chevy's in their boats and have no problems. just go to ebay motors and type in 460 marine motors and look for the 460 with a 5 year warranty...dont buy any 460 motor...most of them have like a 90 day warranty or one year. good luck.
